Pro Bono Cases on Land and Equity
As a registered Legal Aid Clinic, CEFROHT provides free legal services—including court representation and mediation—to indigent persons, particularly women and children facing land injustices.
Uganda’s patriarchal history has marginalized women in land ownership, perpetuated by laws like the repealed Section 27 of the Succession Act, which favored male heirs. Although such laws have been abolished, societal barriers persist. CEFROHT supports women wrongfully evicted from land, recognizing that land ownership is crucial for food security. By restoring land rights to women, who dominate small-scale farming, CEFROHT secures food access for their families.
