
Kembabazi JoanProgram Manager, Social Justice and Strategic Litigation
Kembabazi Joan is the Program Manager for the Social Justice and Strategic Litigation Program at the Center for Food and Adequate Living Rights (CEFROHT). She oversees CEFROHT’s public interest and probono cases, including drafting and filing pleadings, developing legal strategies, and representing clients in court. With extensive expertise in public interest litigation, legal drafting, research, and analysis, she is also a strong advocate for legal empowerment.
As a legal researcher and author, Joan has explored diverse topics such as GMOs and the law, breastfeeding and legal frameworks, land rights and equity, as well as law and governance for agroecology. She employs a Human Rights-Based Approach to conduct evidence-based legal and policy analysis, ensuring that her work aligns with principles of justice and equity.
Joan is an advocate of the High Court of Uganda and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (PGDLP) from the Law Development Centre in Uganda, as well as a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (Hons.).
She is an active member of the Uganda Law Society (ULS), the East Africa Law Society, and the Agroecology Legal Network for Africa (ALENAF).
Through her work and affiliations, she continues to advance social justice, human rights, and sustainable legal frameworks in Uganda and beyond.
