Empowering Communities to Claim Adequate Living Rights Through Legal Education and Advocacy

This Community Training Guide, developed by the Center for Food and Adequate Living Rights (CEFROHT) with support from the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), empowers rural communities in Buyende, Kiboga, and Kyankwanzi districts to claim their adequate living rights using the Human Rights (Enforcement) Act 2019. It provides user-friendly, plain-language training materials for Community Advocacy Groups (CAGs) and Local Council I (LCs) to understand, protect, and enforce human rights. The guide covers fundamental human rights principles, outlines roles and responsibilities, and offers practical tools for identifying violations, making legal claims, and conducting case monitoring. Through interactive activities, role-playing scenarios, and clear referral pathways, it enables communities to seek justice, hold duty-bearers accountable, and foster sustainable social change. The document emphasizes gender inclusivity, adult learning strategies, and the importance of local advocacy in promoting access to justice and adequate living conditions for all.
