EALA-ATNR Committee Visits CEFROHT Offices to Discuss Agroecology Policies

Following an insightful field visit, the EALA-ATNR committee members and FAO representatives were hosted for a lunch buffet at CEFROHT offices by the Board of Directors Chairperson, Prof. Kaaya Archileo.

An engagement meeting followed, bringing together the committee, FAO representatives, civil society organizations, academia, and agroecology farmers. Recognizing that East African policies supersede national frameworks, CEFROHT presented a CSO position paper advocating for agroecology through legal and policy reforms. The paper emphasized the need for institutional frameworks to strengthen agroecology, promote seed equity, and advance food sovereignty in the region.

The meeting ended with a shared commitment to advancing agroecology within the East African Community. EALA-ATNR committee members voiced support for agroecological initiatives and pledged to push for policies prioritizing sustainable and equitable food systems.
